The Process of Getting a CEREC Same-Day Dental Crown
You will first meet with one of our respected dentists, Dr. Williams, Dr. Woo, or Dr. Alex, who will examine the tooth in question and determine if a CEREC crown is the right option. If so, you will be provided with local anesthesia to numb the tooth and its surrounding area so that it can be cleaned and prepped for the customized restoration.
When finished, we will take a digital impression of the tooth before CEREC software is used to convert the image into a 3D model, allowing for any adjustments that need to be made. Once the design is created, it is sent to our in-house milling unit, where we will place a piece of ceramic into the machine and wait for the crown to be created.
All of this occurs while you relax in the treatment chair.
Once it is ready, we will give the tooth a polish before bonding it in place over your natural tooth. The fit and comfort should feel good, and its appearance will help you to feel more confident when you leave our office.
Benefits of CEREC VS Traditional Dental Restorations
Although traditional dental crowns offer many great benefits, those provided by CEREC are unmatched:
- Same-day treatment that prevents the need for multiple appointments
- There is no need to wear a temporary crown, as you’ll receive your permanent one the same day
- CEREC crowns are highly durable and aesthetically appealing
- Digital impressions are used to capture an image of the tooth instead of using cold, messy dental putty
- There is no off-site lab required; instead, an in-house milling unit crafts the custom crown
