How long does it take?

Traditional dental crowns require two appointments. When it comes to CEREC crowns, the process is much quicker because we get get it all done in one visit. However, despite that fact that CEREC crowns are much quicker, they still require some time as your crown must be designed and formed in our in-house dental laboratory while you wait. Since the CEREC approach is done in one visit, there is only one numbing process and one placement process. That means fewer injections than are traditionally required for the placement of crowns. What’s more, CEREC patients are not sent home with a temporary crown because we place their permanent restorations right then and there. This eliminates any possibility of discomfort that can result from leaving the tooth vulnerable.

If you are wondering if the speed of the CEREC method might reduce the quality of our crowns, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, CEREC crowns are made of an advanced ceramic composite that contains alumina which ranks just under diamonds on the hardness scale. In the constructing of your replacement tooth, alumina is softened by blending with other ingredients, giving it a translucency that looks like your natural enamel and a durability that lasts a lifetime yet isn’t so hard that it wears away your natural neighboring teeth.
